Popular Cosmetic Procedures From Body Sculpting to Botox Treatments

At some point in their lives, both men and women consider the benefits of having one or more cosmetic procedures performed. From laser hair removal to tummy tucks and other body sculpting techniques, aesthetic procedures can enhance a person’s overall appearance and potentially increase their confidence and self-esteem.

The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery’s recent survey found that 70% of their participants were considering some type of cosmetic work. While there were a variety of aesthetic procedures available, the survey results showed that some were being considered more often than others. These were the most common ones:

  • Body sculpting: 58%
  • Laser hair removal: 47%
  • Microdermabrasion: 53%

During 2015, women in particular opted for a variety of cosmetic procedures. The following were the top surgical procedures received during that year:

  • Liposuction
  • Breast augmentation
  • Tummy tuck
  • Breast lift
  • Eyelid surgery

In 2016, there were approximately 4.2 million cosmetic procedures performed within the United States alone. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported that when considering the combined total of surgical and minimally-invasive cosmetic procedures, 17.1 million were performed. Breast augmentations, however, were the most popular, with a total of 290,467 being performed.

Other popular procedures included cheekbone restoration. Over 50% of the cosmetic surgeons surveyed stated that their patients wanted to have their cheekbones restored, which amounted to 56% of their patients. Some individuals also chose to have Botox treatments to prevent or eliminate wrinkles. Botox treatments were also used to eliminate fine facial lines.

Many Americans claim that they lack self-discipline when it comes to losing weight. A recent poll indicated that this applies to 50% of the population that hasn’t been successful with losing weight. It’s important to note, however, that an individual will experience the best results with liposuction when they are close to their optimum body weight. Experts report that a good liposuction candidate is an individual that is within 30% of their ideal weight.

Since you’re likely considering an aesthetic procedure, it makes sense to schedule a consultation with a local cosmetic surgery center. Whether you’re thinking about having minimally-invasive treatments such as Botox injections and microdermabrasion, or cosmetic surgical procedures such as a tummy tuck or breast augmentation, you can learn more about these during your consultation. In addition to discussing your personal aesthetic goals, your cosmetic surgeon may also provide suggestions and recommendations to further enhance your appearance.
