    Foot pain

Foot pain is a common complaint among people in the United States, as most Americans travel frequently by foot, racking up around 75,000 miles walked by the time they are fifty years old. In fact, in one day alone, an average American adult will take up to 6,000 steps – and some will take more. As we know, the foot, which has an astounding twenty six bones, is incredibly important. We need our feet to take us places, to get us where we need to go. But all too often, Americans as suffering from foot conditions that can be treated and managed. Bunion surgery painful but often necessary, can become necessary for a number of reasons, as well as a number of other sometimes debilitating foot conditions such as hammer toe, which is a deformity causing a toe, usually the second or third, to curl downwards and sometimes under the foot instead of pointing straight ahead as it would in a healthy foot. One of these causes is the wearing of too small shoes. An astounding 88% of women in the United States wear or have worn shoes that are too small for them. Not only is this uncomfortable, it can actually lead to the formation of bunions and the subsequent bunion pain. Of the women surveyed who wore shoes that were too small, over half – around 55% – said that they had also developed bunions. Unfortunately for these women, they were more likely to develop bunions not just because of their choice of too small shoes, but because women are also considerably more likely to develop a bunion than men are.

Bunions are, however, not just caused by shoes that are too small. Bunion surgery painful but ultimately helpful, can become necessary if one has legs of differing lengths. This is a condition that affects more people than one might think – around 85% of the population in the United States. This uneven gait can put too much pressure on one foot, making it susceptible to the formation of a bunion or another foot problem.

Unfortunately, foot pain and problems are common. Up to two thirds of adults in the United States alone suffer from some type of foot problem. But while painless treatment for bunions might not be a reality, recovery time after bunion surgery is often relatively fast and bunion surgery will get you back to your life faster.
