Welcome

Welcome to the Biology of Aging blog. We created this blog to foster communication between the BoA research team and the BoA users. Please comment on posts and pages here or email the research team.

Our goal in creating the Biology of Aging portal (BoA) is to provide aging and lifespan information for all species. So far, we have created 12 exemplar pages with disease and aging gene information. The list with direct links are provided on the left. We chose a variety of species from different taxa, some are well-studied model organisms (i.e. yeast, Drosophila, mouse) while others are not. Perhaps surprisingly, there is aging information available for species such as polar bear and Galapagos tortoise.

We have also created tools to help you explore the tree of life (OntoSpecies) and biomedical literature (LigerCat). There are help pages to explain how to use these tools but we tried to make them intuitive so feel free to just play with them.

On the right sidebar are links to recent aging-related news stories, publications, and some websites with high-quality information.

More content, more tools, and help videos are coming soon.

Enjoy!
